Dear Lords and Ladies,
Supporters and Friends,
As the first tender green begins to sprout across the hills surrounding Hundertbücheln, we’re excited to share a glimpse into our spring calendar. The coming weeks in Movile promise to be lively, diverse, and—hopefully—full of connection once again!
ELASA Visit – Europe Comes to Hundertbücheln
From April 13–15, we’re expecting a special group of visitors: around 40 students from the *European Landscape Architecture Student Association* (ELASA) will be visiting Romania as part of their annual gathering—and will spend two days with us in Movile.
Many of us first met at one of the ELASA meetings ten or fifteen years ago. That makes it all the more special to now welcome a new generation of landscape architecture students from all across Europe, eager to discover the village and the unique cultural landscape around it.
The group will be hosted throughout the village. We’re planning a big communal *Ceaun* evening around the fire, a picnic, and mini-workshops on design and ecology in the hills, along with talks on “green corridors.”
Our goal: meaningful exchange, an inspiring time for everyone—and perhaps even some new enthusiasm for our work, maybe even future collaborators!
Transylvanian Brunch in Hundertbücheln – April 26
Just one week later, it’s time to indulge: On Friday, April 26, we’re teaming up with the Churchfortress Foundation and MyTransylvania to host the second Transylvanian Brunch in Movile. After our wonderful debut in 2016, we’re thrilled to bring it back this spring.
Set in the beautiful parish garden, the brunch will feature regional specialties prepared in part by the much appreciated Ana-Maria Banu. The event also includes a guided tour of the village and fortified church, coffee and cake, and—for those interested—a group hike through the blooming hill landscape.

Attached are a few impressions from the last time!

A Small Anniversary
In May, we’re also celebrating a small unofficial anniversary: Ten years ago—in spring 2014—a small group of curious students and friends set off for Transylvania for the first time. Back then, we traveled in three vans, carrying countless questions and wide-eyed curiosity.
Today, a decade later, we’re a registered nonprofit association with a growing community and a home in Movile. We look forward to celebrating this milestone at the end of May—as a trial run for our *official* 10-year anniversary as an association in 2026.
The Old School – A Project with Perspective
There’s also news from the Old School. After a short pause, the project is picking up again—thanks to a renewed cooperation with the Stifung Kirchenburgen and the Evangelical Church. The Old School is one of the village’s most iconic buildings, centrally located and of great significance to the community.
The aim is to maintain the existing shop, while also making space for new uses (such as a small café or event space), to preserve the building, and gently develop it for the future. We’ll share more with you on this very soon!
We’re looking forward to a vibrant spring—filled with guests, exchange, delicious food, new ideas, and shared journeys. And as always, we deeply appreciate your interest, your support, and your connection to this special place.
Warm greetings from Movile—and from wherever you are in the world,
Your friends from Hundertbücheln
